Mara has been doing hair for twenty-five years, and doing it on the North Shore for twenty of them.
That length of time changes what a salon is. Clients arrive already known — their color formula, their cowlick, the wedding coming up in June, the daughter who now comes in too. Nobody is handed off to whoever is free. There is no upsell script. You sit in the chair and it gets done right, the way it was done last time.
It is a small shop on Vernon Avenue, and that is deliberate. The work is unhurried because only one appointment is ever happening at once.
